Cold Spring NY: bull hill trail hike
JOIN US: SUNDAY APRIL 17th
Although the With/In Environments conference will officially conclude with professor Coccia's keynote on Saturday evening, we'd like to invite all those attending in-person to an informal hike on Sunday, April 17th. This will both allow us to have time to reflect on the conference with one another and, perhaps, to enter into our environment in new ways. |
The hike will take place in Cold Spring, NY. The plan is to hike the Bull Hill Short Loop, which is 4.3 miles and takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes. Anyone looking for a slightly longer hike can split off about halfway through and complete the Full Loop (5.4 miles; 2 hrs 45 mins). Both hikes are rated "moderate" by AllTrails and involve an elevation gain of slightly under 1,400 feet, so make sure to dress appropriately and bring plenty of water.
Tentative itinerary:
Trains back to NYC depart at 4:15; 5:17; 6:19; 7:19 |
Round-trip off-peak fare from GCT to Cold Spring is around $30. Tickets can be purchased online, at a Kiosk in GCT, or on the train. Purchasing tickets on the train is significantly more expensive. Unfortunately, the conference is unable to cover this cost. Students are encouraged to bring their own food and beverages.
Following the hike participants may wish to stay in Cold Spring for food or drink before returning to NYC. Trains leave Cold Spring roughly every hour.Cold Spring is accessible by the MetroNorth commuter train and the trailhead is only a short walk from the MetroNorth Station at Cold Spring. We will meet near the information booth (the four faced clock) at Grand Central Terminal (GCT) at 11:30 am and take the 11:45 am train together, which arrives in Cold Spring at 1:05 pm. |
If there are any changes due to weather we will notify conference participants by email. No later than 10 am on Sunday, April 17th.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
On behalf of the planning committee: hope you will be able to join us!
